Over 130 men took an important step for their health at the Gift of Life Men’s Health & Prostate Cancer Screening held Saturday at the Lumberton Performing Arts Center.
This free event offered vital health services, including prostate cancer screenings, primary care tests, and physician consultations, delivered with compassion by volunteers, medical professionals, and local organizations.
Participants and their families also received meal boxes packed with pantry staples, toiletry gift bags, refreshments, and gift cards, thanks to generous donations from community supporters.
Gift of Life Executive Director Norma Sampson highlighted the collaboration behind this effort, praising the support from Baptist Internal Medicine, the Cardiovascular Foundation of Southeast Texas, and many others who helped provide essential care and reassurance to men and their families.
Many attendees expressed gratitude for the easy and welcoming screening experience. One man shared, “I had missed this event before due to being busy, but this year I came and it was smooth and simple. I highly recommend it and will come back.”
Each participant was entered into a raffle for a Blackstone Griddle, adding a fun element to this important health event.
The “Summer of Screening” continues with upcoming free health events scheduled in Port Arthur, Orange, and Beaumont, encouraging more men to prioritize their health with no-cost screenings.
