Celebrating the Groundbreaking Born in Bradford: Age of Wonder Project

by Shreeya

Health researchers, young people, teachers, and community members will gather to celebrate the successes of the Born in Bradford (BiB): Age of Wonder project, sharing findings and recognizing participants for their contributions. The project, one of the world’s largest teen health studies, captures the journey through adolescence and adulthood for all teenagers in Bradford.

The seven-year BiB: Age of Wonder project will host its first WonderFest celebration at The Midland Hotel, Bradford, on Saturday, July 13. The event will feature a ‘game-show’ style interactive session to share some of the latest findings on young people’s health and well-being, followed by the premiere of a documentary that provides insights from Bradford’s teenagers about their daily lives.

Owen, one of the young people featured in the documentary, expressed his enthusiasm: “I really enjoyed spending time with Pish and Kimia. It was great to share who I am, what I like to do, and who my friends are.”

Professor John Wright, head of the BiB research program, highlighted the project’s achievements: “With incredible support from the schools and young people in the city, BiB’s Age of Wonder has collected data from over 8,000 teenagers. This has provided vital insights into their lifestyles, environment, social media use, and mental health. Co-designed by young people, this study aims to use its findings to improve their lives as they grow up. Wonderfest will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their support and share some early findings.”
