Health officials have announced the sale, pending contract, of two sections of the former Lydney and Dilke Memorial Hospitals in the Forest of Dean, which have remained vacant since the opening of the new Forest of Dean Community Hospital in May. Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust confirmed that Grove House and the garden of Stonebury House at the Lydney site have found buyers, with all proceeds earmarked for reinvestment into local healthcare services.

Expressions of interest have also been received for the main building of the Lydney hospital and land on Templeway West, both designated as assets of community value. Final bids for these properties will be solicited and evaluated by the end of July.

Dilke Memorial Hospital, which included a Minor Injuries Unit, is currently undergoing marketing for sale as part of broader restructuring plans. The decision to close both Lydney and Dilke hospitals in favor of the new Cinderford community hospital was made after extensive consultations and engagement years ago.

The trust emphasized adherence to national guidelines mandating the achievement of both social and financial value in property sales, ensuring that all proceeds are directly reinvested into local healthcare services.
