Navy Sailor Disciplined After Attempt to Access Biden’s Health Records

by Shreeya

A Navy sailor faced disciplinary action earlier this year for attempting to access President Joe Biden’s medical records, the Pentagon confirmed, though it assured the public that no information was compromised.

The incident involved a sailor from the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command who searched for “Joseph Biden” within the military’s health care system, Genesis, reportedly out of curiosity, according to Navy officials.

Upon discovery of the breach, a co-worker reported it under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). The Naval Criminal Investigative Service conducted an investigation and determined that the accessed record was not related to the electronic health records of the President of the United States.

Pentagon Press Secretary Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder stated that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and the White House were notified of the incident in February.
