On Sunday, more than 50 motorcyclists in Tulsa swapped their usual gear for suits, bow ties, and berets to take part in the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. This global event aims to raise awareness and funds for men’s health issues, especially prostate cancer research.
Paul Reid, one of the riders, explained the reason behind the unusual attire: “We hope people see us, wonder why, and then look it up to learn we’re supporting men’s health and prostate cancer research.”
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is held worldwide, with thousands of cities joining in. Tulsa’s group raised over $5,000 to support the cause.
For Justin Barrett, the ride is deeply personal. He lost his older brother Scott to cancer two years ago. “We used to ride together a lot with my dad. When Scott passed, it left a big hole,” Barrett shared.
Both Barrett and Reid emphasize the importance of breaking the silence around men’s health. They believe encouraging men to seek medical and mental help is just as important as raising money. Awareness, they say, must continue long after the ride ends.
