A recent study has found that average penis sizes have increased notably over the past two years, with the UK seeing a rise from 5.17 inches to 5.63 inches. This unexpected trend has sparked discussions about the possible health factors behind it.
Experts suggest that the rise could be linked to weight loss, particularly due to the popular diabetes medication Ozempic, which many use off-label for slimming down.
Dr. Richard Viney from Diabetes.co.uk explained that as men age, increased body fat and prostate enlargement can cause the penis to appear shorter. However, losing weight can reverse this effect, making the penis seem larger.
“Medications like Ozempic and Wegovy, designed for diabetes and obesity treatment, may contribute to this change by helping men lose excess fat,” Dr. Viney said.
Pharmacist Navin Khosla emphasized that while the size changes may be noticeable, penis size itself is not a medical concern. “Preferences vary widely among individuals, much like fashion or eye color, and size is a personal and subjective matter,” Khosla added.
It’s important to note that some of the data in the study came from self-reported measurements, which may affect accuracy.
